The GYROTONIC® Expansion System was created by former dancer and gymnast Juliu Horvath and is based upon some of the movement principles of Yoga, dance, gymnastics, swimming, and Tai Chi. The movement patterns incorporate circular and spiraling movements that help to facilitate ann unwinding of tight joints, lengthen and strengthen muscles, and increase spinal flexibility.

GYROTONIC©

Studio Levity is a fully equipped GYROTONIC© studio located in the NE Broadway district of Portland, Oregon.

GYROTONIC® stretches, strengthens and tones. It can be a relaxing workout and a challenging aeorobic workout depending on the goals and desire of the client.

THE EQUIPMENT

The GYROTONIC® Pulley Tower is the main piece of equipment used in a GYROTONIC® session and is amazingly flexible in its many uses. The Tower uses weights connected to a cable pulley system and has an incredible range of motion able to work horizontally, vertically, with the client laying down, standing up, or facing sideways. Weights can be used to challenge and support, to traction and to create resistance.

THe Leg Extension Unit or LEU aids in allignment of the legs in relation to the pelvis, strengthens the legs and feet, works the abdominals, and even works the arms. Great for rehabing knees, hamstrings, and ankles.

The Archway helps to strengthen tendons and challenge proprioception. Strengthening tendons thereby conditions the nervous system and th muscle connection to the bone. Like a jungle gym that allows for hanging and gymnastic like movements, the Archway can really free the body by facilitating proper articulation of the spine.

The Jumping and Stretching Board like it’s name, allows for a cardiovascular component with jumping with or without resistance. IT is a great tool for stretching all parts of the body while minding alignment. The JSB challenges the abdominals, tones the arms, and works the hampstrings.

The Gyrotoner allows you to articulate the spine in every way imaginable. Lengthening and strengthening, works the legs and arms in circular movement patterns focusing on proper transitions and healthy range of motion. Amazing capabilities in stretching the nerve lines of the arms.
